Welcome Travis! Your 2nd Seattle Community Manager!

As you might have heard, our Seattle Uber family is growing and we can’t be more excited! Without further ado… Meet Travis, your 2nd Seattle Community Manager. (All together now…) HAZZAH! Soon you’ll be getting help with support questions, takin’ tequila shots, and just enjoying all of the awesomeness he has to offer. I asked him to take a moment to give us some #TravisFacts so…enjoy!

Hey there, Seattle! First off, I want to thank Jen for the stellar intro! Second, I just have to say that I am super excited to join the Uber team and help add some Holy-Awesome sauce to your Uber experiences in Seattle. So who am I and what am I all about? I recently sat down to interview myself in a local coffee shop, which was probably a little awkward for everyone around me as I was talking to myself, but I had a great time and hopefully these #travisfacts will help you get to know me a little better! So here goes.

Where is it that you hail from?
I was born and raised in Puyallup, WA, also known as the home of the Puyallp Fair (woot!), before moving to the “big” city of Seattle.

What do you love about Seattle?
Where do I even start?! With excellent local breweries and bars, an awesome music scene, the Sounders, so many delicious restaurants to choose from, coffee brewed to perfection and so many rad people to enjoy it all with, what’s not to love?

I also think Seattle is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I have done a good bit of travelling and seen many beautiful places, but there isn’t much that can beat being on a sailboat watching the sun set behind the Olympics. It’s unreal.

What excites you most about joining the Uber Seattle team?
1) Working with Jen Joyce 2) Working with Michael Colman / Michael Colman’s beard

That might actually be three with Michael’s beard being it’s own entity, but who’s counting? In all seriousness, the entire Uber family has been incredibly welcoming and I am really excited to work with so many talented people to make riding Uber the most awesome experience possible. I have been a huge fan of Uber from the get go, so working for a company that is such a game changer is like a dream come true.

Where is your favorite place to eat in Seattle?
That is a really tough question, but I would say it’s a toss up between Revel in Fremont (summer grill shack? yes please!) and The Walrus and the Carpenter in Ballard (oysters and steak tartare anyone?).

Favorite movie?
The Royal Tenenbaums

Favorite color?
Definitely black. Well, maybe it’s blue. Nah, I’d definitely go with black.

What would you say is your spirit animal?
Well, this online quiz told me I am a Wolf and my powers are stealth, hunting ability, enhanced senses of smell and hearing, as well as strength and stamina. How cool is that? (link to quiz: http://www.jerismithready.com/quiz/)

Favorite beer?
I have been on an IPA kick for the past few months, but I really like different brews for different circumstances.

Favorite cocktail?
Definitely an Old Fashioned.

Favorite food?

Favorite pizza toppings?
Pepperoni, pineapple and jalapenos. Also known as the Staple & Fancy at Ballard Pizza Co.

Favorite Seattle music venue?
The Crocodile.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?
This past summer I was part of a team that summited Mt. Rainier and raised over $17,000 for clean water projects. Not only one of the most surreal experiences ever, but awesome to do it for a great cause.

Well, there you have it.  Travis Wals, in all of his glory. Make sure you shoot him a nice welcome on twitter! Seattle just got more Uberiffic. 😉

Hugs and Kisses from your Uber Seattle Community Managers,
Jen & Travis
