How Do You Uber?

It’s a life saver. I don’t own my own car, so I use it when I need to get to work in the morning after sleeping through my alarm. It’s safe, reliable and f***ing awesome.

What defines a powerful woman?

What makes a powerful woman is what makes a powerful human, it’s one in the same. No matter what their obstacles are, they can overcome and endure. They never give up, and always work for what they are passionate about.

Who is a female role model in your life?

My mom. She was a widow with four kids and had nothing when I was growing up. She is this tiny Irish lady, creating a life for me and my siblings. I have never associated with the idea that women are weak and delicate, as I never saw that growing up. She taught me to always go for what makes me happy, no matter what the situation is.

As a powerful woman, what drives you?

I am driven by the things I find joy in. I am in a field (animation) that is male dominated. Having put myself through college, I was ambitious and driven to show the dudes what I was made of. Just try and stop me. I now work as an independent contractor, so I am not involved in the day-to-day industry of animation, but when it comes down to it it’s about ability, not gender.

How are you going to celebrate International Women’s Day?

I celebrate with my twin sister. We like to celebrate the less traditional holidays, like International Women’s Day. We do research on women who people might not know about that are inspirational. The women who came from nothing, endured and went on to change the world. We find our women of the year, and learn their stories. By learning about other women and their work, we strengthen that community.
