It’s Time for Rideshare Pickups at Sea-Tac

Every day, hundreds of thousands of people in the Puget Sound region can request safe, reliable, and affordable transportation at the tap of a button because of ridesharing.

Unfortunately, there’s one place in our community where uberX ridesharing isn’t available: Sea-Tac Airport. Right now uberX rideshare driver-partners are only allowed to drop passengers off at the airport – not pick them up.

Let airport officials know you want more choice in transportation options, and that uberX rideshare pickups at Sea-Tac Airport will benefit travelers, drivers, and the local community.

Growing Small Businesses

Uber partners with thousands of drivers who drop riders off at Sea-Tac and are forced to return to Seattle or Tacoma for their next pickup because the Port Commission has blocked rideshare pickups at the airport. We believe all drivers deserve the right to earn a living at Sea-Tac, regardless of the make and model of their vehicle.

Expanding Choice  

With competition comes innovation and improved customer service. Sea-Tac travelers should have the right to choose their preferred mode of transportation, whether it’s with Uber or another provider.

Supporting the Port of Seattle’s Century Agenda Environmental Vision

Tens of thousands of uberX rideshare trips end at Sea-Tac each week, but drivers can’t pick up passengers at the airport. These one-way fare or “deadhead” trips accounted for 2 million pounds of C02 emissions in 2015, and this figure is expected to jump to over 3 million pounds in 2016.

The Port of Seattle has been discussing rideshare pickups at Sea-Tac for more than a year. Tomorrow the Port Commission has the ability to expand opportunity and choice. Tell the Commission it’s time for more transportation options at the airport.
