First it was transportation freedom. Then it was movement. Now it’s a referendum.
Tens of thousands have voiced their support for ridesharing in Seattle.
Today a coalition of ridesharing supporters announced that signatures for a referendum on Seattle’s restrictive ridesharing ordinance were submitted to the City of Seattle. Seattle Citizens to Repeal Ordinance 124441 gathered more than 36,000 voter signatures in support of the referendum, twice the amount needed to put the ordinance on hold.
Voters have made it clear that ridesharing options like uberX are vitally important to the City. uberX offers a safe, affordable and reliable way to get around Seattle, while also allowing hundreds of small businesses to flourish. As a result of those 36,000 signatures, the ordinance that so severely limits ridesharing in Seattle is automatically suspended from taking effect.
Uber looks forward to continuing to work with the Coalition, Mayor, City of Seattle and the community to find a workable solution that promotes public safety, innovation, and choice for Seattle residents and drivers.

And today, more than 40,000 restaurants globally–from poke shops to pasta spots–are sharing food with customers through UberEATS. With a growing restaurant community comes more choices and more complexity. So we’re cooking up features to continue to make UberEATS easy and reliable. Here is a taste–
