Driver Appreciation Day + Uber Scholarship Fund

Uber Seattle was very proud Tuesday – proud of our great city and the partner drivers that work tirelessly to get residents and visitors home safely. After a year and a half of negotiations, on July 14, a new agreement was passed – one that promoted opportunity for drivers across the city and allowed uberX to continue to serve the people of Seattle. On Wednesday, we celebrated that agreement with the drivers who help move people around–ALL Drivers, including those who use the Uber platform, Taxi, ForHire, etc.

Mayor Murray was the guest of honor.  He spoke in support of the new ordinance and recognized Seattle drivers for their diversity and service.

Councilmember Bruce Harrell named July 30, 2014, Seattle’s official Driver Appreciation Day and read a proclamation signed by the Mayor and all nine City Councilmembers.

As part of this effort, we announced a Scholarship fund for partner drivers and their immediate families with an initial donation of $25,000 to be hosted by the College Success Foundation.

All and all it was a pretty amazing day.
