Fifty years ago, the Gay Pioneers laid the foundation for the organized LGBT civil rights movement at Independence Hall. On the heels of the recent Supreme Court decision, this weekend marks a half-century of monumental progress in the fight towards equality. Check out Independence Hall this Saturday to see a moving reenactment of the original demonstration.

What better way to celebrate freedom than joining 300,000 of your closest friends at the “largest free concert in America?” The July 4 concert is one of the most anticipated local events of the year and features some of the largest musical acts in the country, including Philly’s own The Roots with special guests Miguel and Jennifer Nettles. Immediately following the concert, July 4 comes to an explosive end with a fireworks finale over the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
