Making Oklahoma Safer
It’s our mission to keep the roads safe in Oklahoma, where there are over 13,000 drunk driving arrest per year. We’ve seen DUI rates decline in Uber cities across the globe and we’re committed to continuing that trend in Oklahoma.
We’re big believers that if you give people a safe, affordable, and convenient alternative to drinking and driving, fewer people will drive drunk. With reliable options at a variety of different price points, we expect to make a huge impact here. Let’s take a look at some data to understand why.
A vast majority of DUI fatalities occur at night, and 8pm to midnight is the peak period for alcohol-related incidents. We can compare that to the distribution of Uber Oklahoma’s trip requests over a 24-hour timespan. Two things jump out: Trip requests spike at night, and they spike during the times when alcohol-related incidents are at their highest.
Let’s take a closer look at the weekend data, keeping in mind that bars in Oklahoma City close at 2am. We can see in the chart below that trip requests spiked tremendously between 1am-2am, showing us that users rely on Uber to get them home from the bar safely. Given the late-night reliability, it’s clear that Uber is helping to take drunk drivers off the road.
Safety is Uber’s top priority, and that commitment extends throughout the Oklahoma communities of which we are proud to be a part of. We recently partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and conducted a report that reveals that when empowered with more transportation options like Uber, people are making better choices that save lives. With Uber, a safe, reliable, hassle-free ride is always a few taps of a smartphone away.
We’re excited to expand the Uber for Business platform beyond business travel, to include a world-class customer transportation solution, Uber Central. With Uber Central, organizations of all shapes and sizes can now easily provide on-demand, door-to-door transportation for their customers, clients, and guests.
A little over a year ago, we set out to put a new spin on an old classic–make reliable food delivery available at the tap of a button. Back then, we started by offering food in the UberEATS app from 1,000 pioneering restaurant partners in four cities. And today, more than 40,000 restaurants globally–from poke shops to pasta spots–are sharing food with customers through UberEATS. With a growing restaurant community comes more choices and more complexity. So we’re cooking up features to continue to make UberEATS easy and reliable. Here is a taste–
