Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with Safety and Style
This weekend kicks off celebrations of all things Irish with St. Patrick’s Day festivities happening throughout Oklahoma. Whether you’re indulging in green beer or Irish car bombs, we urge all Oklahomans to celebrate safely.
Between 2009 and 2013, there were 276 St. Patrick’s Day drunk driving fatalities nationwide, making it one of the deadliest holidays on the road. In efforts to help end alcohol related crashes and to help make our roads safer, Uber has partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Uber and MADD are working toward a world where a reliable ride is always within reach; where more options empower more people to make the right choice; and where families waiting on loved ones don’t have to worry about whether they’ll make it home safely.
Uber is committed to the safety of everyone using Uber, which to us goes beyond being DD. We’ve added several in-app safety features to help make every ride as safe as possible.
The Simplest Safety Features of the App Are Some of the Most Effective:
- Transparent Trip Tracking: GPS is utilized for every ride on the platform, which allows Uber to account for the time and route of every trip.
- No Ride is Anonymous: Once a ride request is confirmed, users have the picture, name, vehicle type, license plate number and rating of the driver.
- Share My ETA: Users also have the ability to “Share My ETA” with friends and family, displaying a live map of the trip in progress.
- A 24/7 Feedback Loop: Riders rate and provide comments about their experience at the end of every trip, and drivers do the same. Uber constantly monitors that feedback to ensure any incident or issue is addressed immediately.
With an Uber available to get you home at the tap of a button, leave it to us to make sure you finish your St. Patrick’s Day celebration right —by getting home safely.
