We’re continuing our #WhyIRide series with Cleveland rider, Ramona. She is currently a student at Baldwin Wallace, majoring in PR and minoring in Marketing. Ramona and her 4-year-old son take Uber everyday to get them both to school. She took a few moments to share with us why she rides.
When did you start riding with Uber and how did you hear about us?
My very first Uber ride was actually in 2012 in LA. I was visiting one of my friends and he sent me an Uber to pick me up from the airport.
What made you start riding with Uber?
The scariest thing about driving is the possibility of an accident or crash. After being rear-ended by a drunk driver with my son in the back seat, it was hard for me to get back behind the wheel of a vehicle. I had a rental for a little while, but then I thought, why not Uber? Spending money on a rental car with insurance, gas, and everything else, I figured Uber might be cheaper.
How often do you ride?
At least twice a day.
Why do you use Uber and how is it helpful to you?
It’s convenient and I never to wait long. The prices are affordable and the drivers are so nice, safe, friendly—I can’t think of a bad experience I’ve had. Uber also has great customer service. My son and I have been on hundreds of trips with dozens of drivers across America and everyone has been worry-free, expedient, affordable and secure.
What makes you feel safe about riding with Uber?
The drivers I’ve had always drive safely, at least in Cleveland. They are great and the cars are clean. Uber makes sure they all have insurance and background checks beforehand, and also check that the quality of the cars is acceptable.
What occasions do you use Uber?
Commuting to school and getting my son to school.
What is your favorite feature in the app?
I like that it lets me know when there is a surge and also when the surge is over. I can wait it out and I like that it’ll give me a notification so I don’t have to take a trip when the price is high. I also just tried UberEATS the other day and I loved it. It was awesome and I had a $10 code. To a college student, it’s great.
What is your favorite Uber option (product) and why?
I use uberX the most. UberBLACK is very nice though. I was picked up in a Mercedes once. So I’d say my favorite is uberX but uberBLACK when I’m feeling fancy.
What is your favorite place to Uber to?
I don’t go out too much so probably the grocery store. I don’t have to carry my groceries all the way home.
In the spirit of the season—anything you’re thankful for this holiday?
I’m thankful for Uber. Seriously. I literally Uber everywhere. If it wasn’t for Uber, I’d probably be in debt trying to pay off a car note. I get to school and get my son to school everyday because of Uber. And it’s not just Uber. It’s each individual driver. They’re amazing.
