Uber Rolls Into Six More North Carolina Cities!
Today at noon, uberX is hitting the streets of six additional North Carolina cities: Durham, Chapel Hill, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Fayetteville and Wilmington. Now 1 in 3 North Carolinians can request a safe, affordable and reliable ride at the touch of a button, and drivers can reap the economic opportunity that partnering with Uber provides. One more transportation option for North Carolina is good for riders, good for drivers and good for cities.
Shooting Guard Gerald Henderson knows North Carolina and he knows how to move quickly on the basketball court. He has no problem getting around quickly off the court, either. The former Blue Devil showed no hesitation as he fired up his Uber app and helped welcome uberX to six new cities in The Old North State.
Gerald now holds the title of Uber NC Rider Zero! (No word on if he dares Uber to Chapel Hill.)
Whether you want to catch some rays on the Carolina coast, grab a beer in The Bull City or dine out in downtown Winston, let Uber be your ride. With just the push of a button, Uber will connect you with the closest available driver in town, ready to pick you up in minutes. You’ll see a photo of your driver, the car they are driving, and even watch them on the app as they drive toward you. There’s never been a safer, more seamless and affordable way to move around your state.
If you don’t see uberX at first, don’t worry! Since Uber is still in testing phase, there may be times when availability is limited. Just refresh your Uber app again after a few minutes to request a ride and you’ll be on your way. Uber’s most reliable coverage in your area can be found here, but will be rapidly expanding around your city.
uberX Is Up To 45% Cheaper Than A Taxi

Team Uber North Carolina
Whether you’re a freshman or a senior headed back to campus this fall, one thing is certain—you’ll need to eat. And there is nothing worse than being limited to questionable cafeteria food or taking a chance on expired leftovers in the back of the fridge. The best news? UberEATS is expanding to 30+ major college campuses by the end of the year, from Penn State to LSU to Boise State. Since we want you to focus on what you love about college and not worry about your next meal, we’re predicting the 5 times you’ll need to order UberEATS this semester.
We are excited to surpass the 100th city mark by welcoming two Brazilian cities, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, to the UberEATS family. From Atlanta to Warsaw, people have truly embraced this easy and reliable way to discover the food they love at the push of a button. Whether that’s an Indian inspired samosa, a good old-fashioned American burger or Vietnamese pho, people in 27 countries are using UberEATS to get a taste of the world’s flavors at the push of a button.
We’re excited to expand the Uber for Business platform beyond business travel, to include a world-class customer transportation solution, Uber Central. With Uber Central, organizations of all shapes and sizes can now easily provide on-demand, door-to-door transportation for their customers, clients, and guests.
