Help A Child Start the School Year Right
It’s that time of year again. We wave goodbye to pool parties and backyard barbecues, and get the kids ready for their first day of school and to break out the books. But for more than 4,700 homeless students enrolled in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the back-to-school necessities are not always readily available, and preparing for their first day of school is not always that simple.
This year, join Uber and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist of the Charlotte Hornets in giving back to our community by hosting a school supplies drive in your office, with your religious or service organization, or with your intramural team buddies—anyone is welcome to participate! Along with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, we’ll come by to collect donations from the first 20 groups that pledge to contribute 40 or more items from our school supplies list.
“I’m honored to be partnering with Uber on this great cause to collect back to school items for A Child’s Place,” said Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. “Thank you in advance to the city of Charlotte for your generous donations. I’m looking forward to August 21.”
We will deliver all donations to our local partner, A Child’s Place—an organization working to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education. Rather than parents needing to choose between fulfilling their family’s basic needs and purchasing school supplies, A Child’s Place hopes to provide the children in its program with all necessary back-to-school items.

A little over a year ago, we set out to put a new spin on an old classic–make reliable food delivery available at the tap of a button. Back then, we started by offering food in the UberEATS app from 1,000 pioneering restaurant partners in four cities. And today, more than 40,000 restaurants globally–from poke shops to pasta spots–are sharing food with customers through UberEATS. With a growing restaurant community comes more choices and more complexity. So we’re cooking up features to continue to make UberEATS easy and reliable. Here is a taste–
