Celebrating the Moms Who Move Us

As Mother’s Day draws near, we want to shine a light on the incredible women that partner with Uber to move Charlotteans safely and conveniently around the Queen City. This year, we’re introducing you to a few of our women partners that manage both their business and their household.

We know that being a mom is one of the hardest and most thankless jobs that never ends. So, in celebration of a few of our partners on their special day, Uber Charlotte has teamed up with LAMIK Beauty to provide each of the moms you’ll read about below with an eco-beauty pampering kit complete with skin care essentials and coveted beauty items.

Read on to learn about mom-preneurs Tanisha, Denise and Rhonda who brilliantly balance motherhood while driving toward their goals.

 Meet: Tanisha

I love the flexibility of partnering with Uber. I’m disabled and a single mother, so the extra income is great and helpful. Also, being my own boss while managing low overhead expenses is awesome!

My daughter (17) and I like to take trips to the aquarium.  She’s an artist, so we often visit the local art museums like the Bechtler and the Mint as well.

Hands down, my daughter is my drive. I want to make sure I do all I can to raise a productive, intelligent beautiful, young woman who will make great contributions to society,

How are you going to celebrate Mother’s Day this year?

Every year we go to a different restaurant for brunch.  This year we will be attending “Tea for Two” at The Mint Museum.

Meet: Denise

Partnering with Uber gives me the ability to take control of my life and spend time with my kids at an age when they need me most. The flexibility of driving when it works for me, allows me to show up and participate in their lives without restriction.

I have two boys (2 and 10) that absolutely love trains! I often take them up to Concord to watch the trains go by.

I’m driven by knowing that I am providing a better life for them. They give me the strength and motivation to keep going.

How are you going to celebrate Mother’s Day this year?

I’ll be spending the day doing arts and crafts with my boys.

Meet: Rhonda

I partner with Uber for the extra income it provides me to reach my goals. I’ve been working diligently by driving part-time to eliminate debt and purchase a new home for myself and my daughter.

My most favorite place in Charlotte to visit with my daughter (15) is a Sunday church service. We also enjoy the rides together at Carowinds or hanging out Uptown, especially as the weather warms up.

My daughter drives me to be the best I can be. I work a part-time job, drive with Uber,  and I am a full-time student. I want to show my daughter that hard work pays off and that she can accomplish anything she sets out to do.

How are you going to celebrate Mother’s Day this year?

This Mothers Day I am going to Chicago to spend time with my Mom. I’m grateful that by partnering with Uber, I was able to make this trip possible.
