Stand up for Uber in Brooklyn!

New York City Councilman Stephen Levin is sponsoring a ban on new Uber driver-partners: this ban would kill job opportunities for thousands of Brooklynites and limit your access to affordable, reliable Uber rides.

Nearly 20% of Uber rides are in Brooklyn, compared to 3% of traditional taxi trips. His bill would prevent hard working drivers from joining Uber and result in higher prices, longer wait times, and in some instances no ride at all.

Councilman Levin’s bill would kill thousands of Brooklyn job opportunities

Why is this bill wrong for Brooklyn?

  • Every week, 25,000 New Yorkers take their first Uber ride. To keep up with demand, we bring hundreds of new drivers on to the Uber platform each week. This creates economic opportunities for thousands of New Yorkers, including many Brooklyn residents and ensures that you can continue to get a quick and affordable ride.
  • This bill would severely limit the number of drivers who can support their families by taking advantage of this rapidly growing demand. Traditional taxi services have been unable to fully support Brooklyn for decades, but in the past 4 years, Uber has helped close that gap. This proposal would reverse that progress.
