Share your ride, reduce emissions

In December, when we launched uberPOOL in NYC, we shared our vision to take 1M cars off the road by allowing people to share their rides. With uberPOOL, riders traveling a similar route are able to combine trips, ultimately reducing traffic congestion and cutting emissions.

In honor of Earth Day, we’re encouraging New Yorkers to share a ride by offering $5 uberPOOL flat rates in Manhattan below 125th Street. Starting today, April 22, through Sunday, April 26, we’ll take you anywhere in Manhattan below 125th Street for only $5—regardless of whether you’re matched with another rider or not.

Manhattan is Uber’s most heavily trafficked borough in NYC, with nearly 50% of total weekly uberX trips starting and ending on the island. With transportation currently responsible for 31%1 of total carbon dioxide emissions in the US, we can collectively make an impact by pledging to share our rides.

It’s been 4 months since we introduced uberPOOL to NYC, and every day we continue making strides toward making our vision for the future a reality. With $5 uberPOOL flat rates, sharing a ride and reducing emissions is now easier and more affordable than ever. As more New Yorkers try uberPOOL, we look forward to getting a glimpse of that future.
