Ride to CMJ with Uber
Today marks the beginning of NYC’s second largest annual marathon. That’s right, CMJ Music Marathon is back in its 33rd year with over 1,400 live performances in more than 80 of NYC’s greatest nightclubs and theaters. While CMJ Music Marathon involves much less actual running, there will be plenty of rushing from venue to venue on a tight schedule. We may be biased, but we know the best way of getting around NYC during CMJ is with Uber.
Five straight days of shows, panels, and events is no joke – if you haven’t been planning and training, you may be hurting by the end of the week. To offer some inspiration on how to pace yourself and make the most of what CMJ has to offer, our social team has provided some of their top picks for the week.
JAKE has day-by-day favorites, to keep his schedule manageable:
Tuesday – Party Supplies at The Delancey
Thursday – This may be a music marathon, but you need to keep fueled to make it through. Jake will be at the Grilled Cheese Happy Hour at noon chowing down on cheesy sliders and tomato soup. Late night, you’ll find him at Just Blaze at Output.
Friday – Wrapping up the week at Irving Plaza with Riff Raff
NICOLE, being the attorney / yoga instructor / music lover that she is, has a more eclectic mix lined up:
Serenity Now: Rock and Roll Your Soul Yoga – A morning yoga class to prepare her mind and body for a music marathon? Yes, please.
Au Revoir Simone – They have such great voices, and they’re so beautiful when performing. Plus, it’s free and open to the public!
The 2013 Entertainment Business Law Seminar – Although the Continuing Legal Education credits don’t qualify for newly admitted attorneys, the topics are interesting (especially The Law of Anyplace: Ethical Considerations of Lawyering Without Borders).
James Bay – Last but not least! He’s super talented. Soulful voice, amazing guitarist. Nicole can’t wait to see him live!
MIKE is a big EDM fan, and that is reflected in his top picks for the week:
Tuesday – NONONO at Mercury Lounge is an awesome up and coming 3 person band from Sweden. After NONONO, he’ll be heading to see Cherub at The Studio at Webster Hall. They always put on a great show, and it’s a plus that they’re also huge Uber fans (Jason even offered to get an Uber tattoo for free Uber for life).
Thursday – Mike will be joining Jake at Output for the AM Only Showcase. Everyone should attend!
Sunday – Free Willansburg + Believe Digital Showcase at Cameo will provide some funky music with which to end CMJ.
ED has a more go-with-the-wind approach, and is all about the CMJ culture of discovering new acts:
Panama Wedding – ‘All of the People’ is a great track and they are playing 5 shows! Also, he’s Ed’s friend. 😉
He’ll also be checking out Elle King at Rockwood Music Hall (his favorite venue in NYC).

A little over a year ago, we set out to put a new spin on an old classic–make reliable food delivery available at the tap of a button. Back then, we started by offering food in the UberEATS app from 1,000 pioneering restaurant partners in four cities. And today, more than 40,000 restaurants globally–from poke shops to pasta spots–are sharing food with customers through UberEATS. With a growing restaurant community comes more choices and more complexity. So we’re cooking up features to continue to make UberEATS easy and reliable. Here is a taste–
