Pro Tip: How to Uber to and From Governors Ball 2015

Hey, festival-goers! Governors Ball is back again, and this year the lineup is looking better than ever. Here are our tips for getting to and from Randall’s Island this weekend:

GETTING TO GOVERNORS BALL

Request your ride as usual and let your driver know you’ll be heading to Randall’s Island Park.

You can always get an idea of what a fare will cost before your ride. To do so, open your app and select your car preference and pick-up location, then tap Fare Estimate to enter your destination and see the range of what similar trips typically cost.

For the most accurate estimate, type 1 Randall’s Island Park as your destination.

Keep in mind that our fares can fluctuate for similar routes depending on traffic, tolls, and special route requests. Fares to and from Randall’s Island are subject to dynamic pricing. You will always be notified in-app if rates are increased.

RIDE UBERPOOL TO RANDALL’S ISLAND

When you request uberPOOL, our carpool option, you’ll have the opportunity to be matched with riders who are headed along a similar route. An uberPOOL match guarantees a cheaper fare, and only adds a few minutes to your trip.

How does it work?

1. Select the uberPOOL option on your slider

3. Request and ride—you may be matched with another rider traveling along a similar route

GETTING HOME FROM GOVERNORS BALL

Outside of the hours of 9pm to 1am, you will be able to request a ride from Randall’s Island; however, due to construction, it may be difficult for vehicles to access the island. If you choose to request an Uber from the festival, please make your request once you exit the festival grounds. Note that all completed trips will be subject to a $10 surcharge*.

You will not be able to request a ride directly from Randall’s Island between the hours of 9pm and 1am for the duration of the festival, as for-hire vehicles will not be permitted on the island during this time.

Here’s what we suggest instead:

Stretch your legs:

Use the 103rd Street Footbridge (accessible at 103rd Street and FDR Drive) or any of the 3 walkway spans of the RFK Triborough Bridge to exit Randall’s Island on foot.

Take a cruise on the Manhattan Ferry:

Festival Ferries will be departing all day until all ticket-buyers are off the island. The drop-off point for the ferries is between 34th and 35th Streets on the East side.

Rock and roll to Brooklyn Bowl:

Like the ferries, festival shuttle busses will be departing the island all day for Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg — the Brooklyn drop-off spot.

Ferry and shuttle tickets can be purchased here. Remember that you can always request a ride once you reach the ferry port or Brooklyn Bowl.

Hop on the X80 Manhattan bus:

Escape the island on the X80 bus, which drops off at 125th Street and Lexington Avenue. The cost for the ride will be $6.50 roundtrip. Use your [non-monthly] MetroCard or have exact change handy.

*Surcharge will not be subject to dynamic pricing.
