Jerry Cans and a Free Ticket to Tonight’s Charity:Ball

Tonight, Uber is proud to be providing transportation for charity:water’s, charity:ball! Because we absolutely love the mission of the organization, we’ll be donating $5 for every ride taken in NYC tonight. In addition we’re giving all attendees $20 off all rides to and from the event…just apply the promo code: CHARITYWATER

If you haven’t made plans tonight, we’ve got a little something special for you…we’re giving away a free ticket to the premier event of the holiday season.  We know it’s last minute… the ticket fell in our laps, but did we also tell you, the event is hosted by Jessica Biel and attended by the who’s who of New York. Act quick, the charity:ball is only a couple of hours away!  In order to win, Tweet this blog post along with #ubercharitywater and we’ll choose a winner before 6:15pm EST.

A Special Note
Because of this special event, we’re bringing the cause to your Uber. Hop in your Uber on the way to the Armory tonight, it’s pretty likely you’ll see one of the “Jerry Cans” pictured above. These “Jerry Cans” weigh in at 40 pounds when full and are often hauled by children and their mothers up to three hours just to get water back to their families. Tonight, we’re simply asking you to ride with an empty one in the back seat.

It’s going to be a big night, and consider this the kickoff to something better in NYC. More cars, shorter pickup times, and more awesome things to come from Uber NYC. If you have any issues, questions or want to share your experience at the charity:ball, tweet us @Uber_NYC or ping us at supportny@uber.com.
