How to Uber in New York City During the Pope’s Visit

Starting on Thursday, September 24, traffic in New York City will be severely impacted by the Papal visit and the UN General Assembly. To steer clear of the areas most affected, please reference the following and budget extra time when planning your rides over the course of the next week. While driver-partners will be informed of road closures, we suggest working with your driver to identify alternative routes to get you to your destination quickly and safely.

To reduce the number of excess vehicles on the road, we encourage riders to share their rides with uberPOOL, our carpool option. Unlike uberX, UberBLACK, or UberSUV, uberPOOL fares are guaranteed. Fares are quoted in the app before you request, so you always know exactly what you’ll pay. uberPOOL fares will always be at least 15% cheaper than uberX. To learn more about uberPOOL, including how it works, see here.
