Working Together for Safer Streets in Old Bridge

On April 14, Old Bridge Township pledged to reduce drunk driving by paying for Uber rides at select locations from 9pm–2am on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.

The Township’s commitment marks a partnership with Uber to provide safe rides for all of its residents in order to help prevent drunk driving, while also supporting Old Bridge’s local economy.

The town of Old Bridge aims to ensure a safe ride is within reach when residents need it most

The Office of Mayor Owen Henry, the Old Bridge Business Alliance, and a generous donation by John Parmar have enabled this safe rides partnership.

“Uber’s safe ride is a wonderful opportunity offered to Old Bridge Residents to be able to dine locally and provide them with a safe ride home if necessary,” said Old Bridge Mayor Owen Henry. “Funding a program like this is an example of how businesses can give back to the community, creating a safe environment.”

With this partnership, Uber and Old Bridge will empower local residents with a transportation option to help prevent DUIs. All rides taken from select bars and restaurants to the homes of Old Bridge residents will be fully paid for, giving residents another reason to ditch their keys after a night out.

How it works:

  1. Open your Uber app Thursday–Saturday between the hours of 9pm–2am when you are leaving one of the program locations
  2. Select the OLD BRIDGE safe ride option
  3. Request your ride home

  • The safe ride option within the app will be automatically enabled when riders request from one of the designated program locations
  • The safe ride option within the app will be available Thursday–Saturday between the hours of 9pm–2am
  • Pickups and drop-offs can be from any of the locations directly home
