Leave the Car Keys at Home
The St. Patrick’s Day celebration is a great opportunity to explore and enjoy local hotspots with good friends. When the festivities come to a close, Uber will be there to get you home.
With a safe, convenient ride available to get you home with the tap of a button, there’s no reason to drive if you’ve had too much to drink. Uber has partnered with Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) New Jersey to continue to reduce drunk driving.
“MADD is glad to be teaming up with Uber once again to help reduce drunk driving. This St. Patrick’s Day we want all New Jersey residents to plan ahead and remember the many options they have to avoid drunk driving.”
– Brandon English, Program Director
In 2014, there were 146 drunk driving fatalities in the state of New Jersey, representing 26.9% of all total traffic deaths.1
Between 2009 and 2013, there were 276 St. Patrick’s Day drunk driving fatalities nationwide, making it one of the deadliest holidays on the road. Uber is committed to reversing that trend.
In states with more transportation options, people make better, safer choices
A report conducted by Uber and MADD reveals that when empowered with more transportation options like Uber, people are making better choices that save lives. In California, Uber’s first and largest market, drunk-driving crashes fell by 60 per month among drivers under 30 in the markets where Uber operates following the launch of uberX. MADD and Uber are committed to reducing these numbers, both in New Jersey and across the nation.
In support of our continued commitment to help eliminate drunk driving, Uber will donate $1 to MADD New Jersey for every eligible ride taken between March 14 and March 17.
