Empowering Entrepreneurship in Detroit

Uber’s technology empowers men and women around the world to become entrepreneurs and small business owners. In the city of Detroit alone, we’ve created jobs for over 375 new entrepreneurs on the Uber platform.

Today, we’re continuing our commitment to support inclusion and entrepreneurship in Detroit by partnering with PowerMoves@Detroit to help create opportunities for minority entrepreneurs.

One of the biggest obstacles to enabling inclusion in Detroit’s entrepreneurial community is the lack of transportation options to attend events.

To help address this problem, we’re teaming up with PowerMoves@Detroit to offer all attendees a free ride to and from the Pitch Competition, a showcase of the top ten minority entrepreneurs from the region, on April 14 at the Garden Theater and the Demo Day Presentations, a summit of 15 early stage minority entrepreneurs pitching industry experts, on April 15 at One Woodward.

“As a high growth and high tech company that responds to urban challenges with transformative solutions, Uber provides an excellent example of what is possible for our PowerMoves participants.  We are excited about Uber’s support of Detroit’s entrepreneurs,” – Rod Miller, CEO of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation

This first of its kind partnership is one of the many small steps we’re taking to make a positive impact on the communities we serve in Detroit and across Michigan.
