From decadent wine and chocolate tastings to blindfolded dinners hosted in a historic Georgian mansion to live performance, Boston has plenty to warm up you and your date this Valentine’s Day. Instead of braving the cold, hop in an uberX or luxurious UberBLACK and head to one of these sweet spots.
Indulge your sweet tooth
Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to indulge your sweet tooth, so why not go all out? This year, the Boston Wine School is celebrating the day of love with a very special class, “In Love with Wine and Chocolate.” The night kicks off with a two-hour class where participants learn the art of wine and chocolate pairings, followed by a gourmet, Italian-inspired meal paired with red and white Italian wines. You’ll start with a glass of Borgoluce Prosecco Superiore Brut and finish with a flourless chocolate cake.
Channel your senses
Feeling adventurous? Skip the normal romantic dinner for something a bit more mysterious. Dining in the Dark, a four-course, blindfolded dining experience, returns to Boston’s Hampshire House this Valentine’s Day for an intimate evening of flavors, smells, and sounds. When the dinner is over, make sure to wander through this turn-of-the-century, five-story Georgian mansion and marvel at its Italian marble, crystal chandeliers, and carved oak paneling.
Cruise around the Harbor
February in Boston is frigid but don’t let that stop you from taking in the sights. Spirit Cruises offers a three-hour Valentine’s Day Dinner Cruise that includes a buffet-style dinner menu, a Champagne toast, and a glass of rosé. As part of the package, couples have access to the Sky Deck Lounge for top-notch views of the harbor as well as live entertainment and, for an extra charge, a guaranteed window table. Have your Uber drop you off at the World Trade Center as early as 6pm for boarding. Departure is at 7pm.
Learn the art of glassblowing
Valentine’s Day isn’t all candlelit dinners and Champagne toasts; there are plenty of other ways to celebrate your special someone. Diablo Glass School will host three Valentine’s Day-themed classes, each with nine participants max. Choose among three types of glass: hot, flame worked, or fused. In true Valentine’s Day fashion, you’ll produce colorful glass flowers and hearts to take home as souvenirs. After the class, enjoy an expert glassblowing demonstration along with complimentary wine and cheese.
Splurge on a live show
If you’re eager to spice up your typical dinner-and-a-movie date night, consider a live performance. There are several shows slated for Valentine’s Day this year, including “Unconditional Love: The Letters of Jahn & Abigail Adams” at the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum and “Cabaret” at the Boston Opera House. Ride there in style with an UberBLACK and then stay in the neighborhood for post-show cocktails.
