Local Leaders Discuss Innovation and Transportation

Last week, we launched uberPOOL in Boston, an innovative way to share a ride with people taking a similar route to yours. As Boston’s transportation ecosystem continues to evolve and grow, we were excited to host a panel of local leaders to weigh in on the impacts of technology and innovation on transportation in Boston.

Moderated by Adam Vaccaro, senior writer at Boston.com, the panel featured Matthew George, CEO of Bridj, Meghan Joyce, East Coast General Manager at Uber, and Matt Mincieli, Northeast Regional Executive Director at TechNet.

Panelists highlighted the innovative technologies that have had a significant impact on transportation options that have helped connect Boston neighborhoods, especially those underserved by existing infrastructure. Joyce focused on how Boston area residents have been able to utilize public transportation and ridesharing for a more seamless commute.

Matt George Panelist “At the end of the day we’re all here to provide mobility to people in cities, and if we can work together to provide mobility to more people in cities, we all win.”
-Matt George, CEO of Bridj
Matt Mincieli Panelist “The changes in transportation technology is changing where people live, it’s changing how cities plan and the amount of data is huge, changing how city and state planners think about transportation, housing, energy.”
-Matt Mincieli, Northeast Executive Director of TechNet
meghan-joyce-panel “Boston is a prime city for uberPOOL, it’s a great opportunity to alleviate some of the Boston traffic. We think Boston is an innovation and tech friendly city that will embrace this new product and technology.”
-Meghan Joyce, General Manager of Uber East Coast

We were excited to welcome dozens of people from the business and tech community last week for this great conversation. We look forward to continuing this important dialogue with more events at our Boston office in the future – hope to see you there!
