People associate Maryland with crab cakes, a hard won Super Bowl and a seriously cool flag but what they may not realize is that Maryland is poised to pave the way for transportation innovation. Over the past year, Uber has delivered reliable, convenient and affordable rides for tens of thousands of Baltimoreans.
Before Uber, transportation options in Maryland hadn’t changed in decades. And there are some people who would like to see things go back to the way it used to be, with limited choice for consumers and fewer opportunities for drivers. Last week, Senator Bill Ferguson and Delegate Ben Barnes introduced pro-innovation, pro-consumer legislation that will ensure innovative, reliable transportation options – both uberX with ridesharing and UberBLACK are here to stay.
It’s time for legislators to stand up for Maryland, not return to the old status quo. This legislation is in line with Maryland’s future, prioritizing innovation, economic opportunity and consumer choice. You deserve access to seamless and reliable transportation options. Drivers deserve the chance to increase their earnings and grow their small businesses.
