uberX Expands Ridesharing in Chicago!
If you’ve yet to meet the newest member of the Uber Chicago family, uberX, it’s our low cost ridesharing option and already a crowd favorite! Vehicles you’ll see on uberX are the drivers’ personally owned hybrid and mid-range cars in a variety of colors with seating for up to four people – think Toyota Priuses and Honda Accords.
We’ve listened to your feedback and with Chicago’s growing sharing economy, we’ve begun testing ridesharing on uberX. This latest expansion of uberX will make even more drivers available on Chicago’s streets, as we’re partnering with drivers like you and me who will be driving their own cars.
To maintain the Uber standard you’ve come to expect, all drivers pass Uber’s rigorous screening process (but are not licensed as professional chauffeurs by the City of Chicago), which includes:
Stringent background check
Driving history check
In-person interview and screening
A city knowledge exam
On-going quality controls
Bottom line: our riders’ security and satisfaction remain our highest priority. All Uber rides continue to be backed up by our corporate insurance policy, and riders always have the option to rate every driver and improve the system with their feedback. Qualification standards for UberBLACK and uberTAXI remain unchanged.
From your perspective, nothing will change except there will be more cars on the road and shorter wait times for uberX!
