Ride with #UberMILITARY and support veterans today
We salute our veterans today and every day.
This Veterans Day, we’re honoring our hundreds of veteran driver partners and making it possible for you to help thank them for their service. We’re adding an UberMILITARY option within the app that allows you to ride with an UberMILITARY partner, so we can all show our appreciation to these very special men and women.
As part of our UberMILITARY initiative, we’re waiving our fee on fares of military community members for the rest of the year. From 6am to midnight today, you can select the UberMILITARY option within your app, for the same price as a regular uberX, and help give back to a community that is very deserving of our support.
Meet one of our veteran driver partners, Cornell.
Cornell served in the Navy for two years before returning home to attend his dream school (go ‘Cats!). Cornell is now a Commander in the US Navy Reserves and a professional in the financial services industry. When he’s not wearing one of his many other hats, Cornell is one of Chicago’s best driver partners, to whom we tip our cap.
We grabbed lunch with Cornell at Little Goat Diner to hear his stories from land and sea. During his time with the Navy, Cornell has traveled all over the world – from Australia to Kuwait, and pretty much everywhere in between. While he loves to call Chicago home, he’d be happy to pack up and move to Ghana tomorrow, where he’d love the food and probably wouldn’t miss the snow.
Our chat with Cornell ended on a note that bears repeating. On behalf of the Uber community, we thanked Cornell for his service and for his contributions to the community in all the ways he does. He humbly noted that whenever an Uber rider learns of his military service, he feels the love. He wanted us to know he doesn’t take that for granted. And we want him – and all our veteran partners – to know that we feel the same way.
Happy Veterans Day.
