Celebrate and Ride Safe, Honolulu
We want to help you celebrate safely this New Year, Honolulu — and that means making sure you have a safe, reliable alternative to drinking and driving after a night on the town. Why? Because at Uber, your safety is our top priority, and the unfortunate reality is that New Year’s is one of the deadliest nights for alcohol-related crashes.
But we’re big believers that if you create a safe and convenient alternative to drinking and driving, more people will make the right choice. And after digging into the data in Honolulu, it appears that riders are choosing Uber as a safe, reliable option at exactly the times when alcohol-related crashes are most common. As the graph shows, alcohol-related incidents peak and plateau around 9PM until midnight, which is about the same time when Uber completes the most amount of trips. In other words, two things jump out: trip requests not only spike at night, but also during times when alcohol-related incidents in Oahu are at their highest.
We recently partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to help keep our roads safe over the holiday season. With all the planning that goes into this New Year’s celebration, Uber and MADD urge you to plan ahead for the most important part of the night: the ride home. This holiday and throughout 2015, make the right choice – designate a non-drinking driver and help keep Honolulu’s roads safe. And if your choice is Uber, please take a minute to thank the thousands of driver-partners making that safe ride possible.

A little over a year ago, we set out to put a new spin on an old classic–make reliable food delivery available at the tap of a button. Back then, we started by offering food in the UberEATS app from 1,000 pioneering restaurant partners in four cities. And today, more than 40,000 restaurants globally–from poke shops to pasta spots–are sharing food with customers through UberEATS. With a growing restaurant community comes more choices and more complexity. So we’re cooking up features to continue to make UberEATS easy and reliable. Here is a taste–
