Uber DC Salutes Our Veterans

From San Diego to Hampton Roads, Uber is proud to partner with men and women across the US who have selflessly served our country. As a way to honor Uber DC veteran partners today and every other day of the year, we’ve spruced up each and every veteran partner photos to include an American Flag icon. The next time you request and see an American Flag logo on your driver’s photo, we hope you will take a moment to join us in saying “thank you.”

There are hundreds of service members partnering with Uber and moving riders around our city every day. We’d like to introduce you to one of them.

Name: Kia H.
Age: 39

– One of the first 300 women onboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Nimitz

Family: Military spouse, two children
Fun Fact: Her birthday is on Christmas
Uber Partner Since: July, 2014

Despite applying and interviewing for numerous federal/state and private employment initiatives for my demographic, I still found myself unemployed. Uber has proven to be an efficient, reliable, and flexible partner. I am grateful for this opportunity and the income that it has provided for my family. It allows me to make my own hours and be available for my children as my spouse serves in the Navy. This is a non-traditional opportunity that is rare to come by.

Many service members have partnered with Uber to help with their transition back to civilian life. As a result, Uber recently launched UberMILITARY, our new initiative to introduce service members, veterans, and military spouses to Uber, empowering them as entrepreneurs and small business owners.

ARE YOU A CURRENT MEMBER OF THE MILITARY,
A VETERAN, OR A MILITARY SPOUSE?
