Thank you for moving DC

Dear DC driver-partners,

When we launched Uber in DC just 5 years ago, we never could have imagined how far we’ve come in such a short period of time. This is thanks to you, of course. You have changed the very way DC moves by giving residents a safe, reliable way to connect with the people and places that matter most.

Consider the implementation of Metro’s SafeTrack program. You hustled to meet a 25% increase in demand as commuters looked for alternative transportation options, ensuring that the people of DC could go about their routines without interruption. When Winter Storm Jonas shut down the city, you provided residents with a warm ride. And during baseball season, you helped locals root for the home team without worrying about how to get home from Nationals Park.

But the service you provide is much more than just a ride. You give residents the freedom and flexibility to go out when and where they want by always providing them with a safe way to get home. You’ve helped neighborhoods flourish and have allowed visitors and residents to discover everything our city and region has to offer. You play matchmaker on uberPOOL trips—sometimes creating relationships that riders will never forget. You turn up the radio when asked, play therapist by listening to all the talk about our bad days, and inspire with your random acts of kindness. For this, we say thank you.

As we look towards the next 5+ years, we know that anything is possible with your continued time, partnership, and support. It means the world to us.

Thank you,

Tom Hayes, General Manager
