Senator Heitkamp and Congressman Paulsen Join Uber and ECPAT-USA At Code Signing Event in DC

At an event on Capitol Hill last night, Uber officially signed a pledge to help combat child sex trafficking as part of its partnership with ECPAT-USA, a leading organization seeking to end the commercial, sexual exploitation of children through awareness, advocacy, policy and legislation.

ECPAT-USA’s Code is a voluntary industry-driven set of guidelines focused on helping travel and tourism companies prevent child sex tourism and trafficking of children. By signing The Code, Uber is the first company in the sharing economy to officially take the ECPAT-USA pledge against trafficking on its platform.

Congressman Erik Paulsen (R-MN) and Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), both vocal advocates for combatting trafficking, joined representatives from ECPAT-USA, organizations active in this fight, and government officials at the event to applaud the partnership and the important role Uber can play.
