DC Fashion Week

With DC Fashion Week underway, we were lucky to chat with Christine Brooks-Cropper, President of the DC Fashion Foundation. Thanks to our friends at DC Fashion Week we’re bringing you the chance to win the ultimate fashion week giveaway!

Give us the Reader’s Digest version of what you do:  As the President of the DC Fashion Foundation I create programming and infrastructure for emerging designers and fashion entrepreneurs.

How did you get your career start?  At 15 I was first introduced to the industry through modeling. From there I owned my own fashion production company and went on to create the Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce, and now here I am at the DC Fashion Foundation.

What does your typical day look like? Busy, busy, busy, but mainly mentoring emerging designers and reviewing business proposal for local small business.

What are your 3 DC go-to spots? Busboys and Poets, Ben’s Next Door and Everard’s Clothing in Georgetown. His clothes are by local designers and made in USA. Love love!

Where can we typically find you on your day off? No days off, but I do wish I could work from Jamaica, Puerto Rico, or the DR one day!

How do you plan your Fashion Week wardrobe? Is it all last minute, or do you prepare days in advance? I pretty much wear a uniform – can’t go wrong with a black dress!

What spring fashion trends are you most excited about this season? Really looking forward to the colors and fabrics we’ll see!

What’s the most common Uber trip you take? Just to and fro, it’s the easiest way around town.

What’s the best experience you’ve ever had with Uber? It’s the immediate pickups that never cease to amaze me!

What are your 3 go-to Fashion Week survival items? My phone, pins, and flats to switch into in between the heels
