Dining in Greenwich

As the temperatures drop and we get more comfortable in our sweaters and scarves, many of us are shifting our leisure time to indoor activities.

Greenwich has a rich variety of restaurants and bars to offer us refuge from the impending cold.  The town’s coveted food and bar scene features top chefs, seasonal menus, speciality cocktails, and an array of cuisines—from Mediterranean to French dining, Italian fare, seafood, and many more.

Narrowing down our top picks wasn’t easy, but we’ve selected the 6 bars and restaurants you shouldn’t miss this season.

“The rustic-chic indoor dining area is one of my top 3 favorite spots to dine. It offers a sophisticated, spacious yet intimate vibe,” – Greenwich Girl

This hotspot opened in July 2013 and has remained a go-to for visitors and residents alike ever since. The restaurant styles itself as “contemporary American,” but what it’s best known for is its fresh ingredients. Not to be missed are the Hanger Steak Frites and dessert lovers are strongly advised to save room for the French Toast Style Bread Pudding!

Authentic, high-end French cuisine is never easy to find. Fine dining and superb seafood make the elegant L’Escale a Greenwich mainstay for the town’s residents and visitors. Right on the Greenwich Harbor, the serene ambience makes the restaurant the perfect spot for a special night out.

“The lobster mac and cheese is delicious! It’s our favorite date night spot,” – Laura, Owner Pure Barre (Darien, Westport, Fairfield)

A top-rated steakhouse AND a savory Italian restaurant? Under one roof? We thought it was too good to be true too, until we checked out the beloved Gabriele’s. The restaurant features a larger elegant banquet-like setting, with a separate bar attached. Portions are generous and the vibe is perfect for either a date or larger group outing.

Harvest

A wine bar, boasting more than 300 wines, and a highly creative menu makes Harvest the perfect go-to for a drink or a bite. The eclectic menu can’t be narrowly defined, with Asian, Latin, and Mediterranean influences among the Greenwich Ave locale’s many dishes. The Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad is not to be missed!

Lovers of cheese and charcuterie–look no further. The speciality shop offers a wide variety of cheeses from around the world, alongside olives, charcuterie, olive oil, sweets, and much more. It’s not a bar or restaurant, but a delicious one-stop-shop for the best cheeses, breads, and meats before hosting your next gathering at home.

Trendy, modern, and hip are just some of the words that come to mind when we think of the J House. Enter the hotel’s stylish restaurant, and you’ll find the chefs cooking in full view. With a rotating menu of fresh fish, flatbreads, and more, the restaurant is also known for its delicious offering of organic and gluten-free dishes for those in need.
