Serving more people with more ways to pay
Our mission is to provide access to reliable transportation everywhere for everyone. Innovations that make transportation more affordable and accessible like uberPOOL have helped us make progress toward that mission; but to serve more people, we have to meet them where they are in ways that meet their needs.
One way we’ve done that is by giving folks in over 150 cities across the globe the option to pay for rides with cash. Not everyone has a credit card or feels OK handing one over to a service they’ve never used. We get that, so we developed a solution using technology to enable people who want to pay with cash to do so with our app.
That’s why starting Tuesday, January 17 we are piloting an option that will let riders in Colorado Springs choose to pay for their Uber trips with cash instead of a credit card.
All of Uber’s safety features will be in place before, during and after every trip—including GPS tracking and the two-way feedback system. Riders will always be able to pay by credit or debit card if they prefer, and change will be handled in the form of credits directly through the app.
We’re excited to bring this option to the US, and we look forward to hearing from drivers and riders about their experience using cash over the next few weeks.
This flu season, we’re delivering free flu-fighting care packages across the country. When you receive a pack, you’ll have the option to request a free flu shot from a registered nurse–for up to 5 people.
