Uber + Caltrain: Moving The Bay Area Together

In the past five years, people all over the world have been using Uber to connect to the people and places they love. More and more we’ve seen how Uber has become an integral part of the transportation ecosystem and even complementing existing infrastructure in cities such as Los Angeles and San Diego.

In fact, we ran the numbers for our home city and found that in July of this year alone, nearly 80,000 Uber trips started or ended within 100 meters of a Caltrain station.

Bay Area residents are using Uber to complete the first and last miles of their public transportation commutes. That means what once was a logistical hassle, that required finding parking and having a car, is turning into a smooth experience.

Here is a look at a typical weekday of trips ending or beginning within 100 meters of a Caltrain station:

To put those numbers into perspective, each month, Uber is helping connect an entire day’s worth of Caltrain riders.

We are proud of our role as a complement to Caltrain and the larger Bay Area transportation ecosystem. We take great pleasure in helping commuters travel to and from work, and we look forward to helping make our transportation network more robust in years to come.
