London, Beat the crowds this bonfire weekend
Remember, remember the 5th of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot
If you’ve ever embarked
On Battersea Park
Your best escape might be by yacht!
In celebration of Guy Fawkes night there are several large firework displays taking place in London this Saturday -and we’re expecting sky high demand.
We’ve already advised drivers the best places to pick up and drop off customers. Follow our tips below to get home to get home warmed-up and hassle-free!
Battersea Park Fireworks, SW11
With a fiery 50,000 tickets sold, Battersea Fireworks is by far the biggest of the weekend’s displays. Gates open at 6.30pm with the event closing at 8.30pm – at which time we expect very high requests for Ubers outta there.
After the display, we recommend walking a short distance away from the park to request. Recommended pick up areas are:
North option: Chelsea Embankment, across the river
South option: Battersea Park Road
Many roads near the park are closed (shown in red on the map below) and drivers have been advised that the two locations above are the recommended pickup points.
The Lord Mayor’s Show
Taking place in the heart of the City, this is a free event beginning at 5.15pm on Saturday 8th November. Though tickets to the show at the Guildhall itself have sold out, thousands of spectators can watch the evening firework display between Waterloo and Blackfriars Bridges, either on Victoria Embankment or on the South Bank.
From 7am – 4pm the City of London will be closed to traffic. Until 6pm, Waterloo bridge and Blackfriars bridge northbound will also be closed.
Though one can never underestimate the power of the Prius, the City will be inaccessible to traffic throughout Saturday. Once the display finishes, we recommend requesting your ride home by taking a short walk south of the river.
Remember, there’ll probably be several Ubers around your pickup point so double check you’ve got the right one by making sure the registration plate matches the one shown in your app.
We’ll have another ‘public service announcement’ style message on how to enjoy New Years Eve in the Capital in December.
Stay sparky, London.
