Introducing the Uber API
At Uber, we work tirelessly to deliver ultra-reliable, on-demand personal transportation at the tap of a button. The seamlessness of Uber, however, belies the complexity that powers this magical experience in over 40 countries around the world. And yet there remain so many things we’d love to build on top of the digital mesh that runs across our cities. Even if we somehow conceived of every great idea, we could never do them all.
Enter the Uber API.
Today, we officially open access to many of the elements that power Uber to all developers. Apps can pass a destination address to the Uber app, display pickup times, provide fare estimates and more. We’re also enabling developer partners to earn free Uber rides through our new Affiliate Program.
Our launch partner: Time Out
Here in London, we’re launching with Time Out, the ultimate guide to this great city. The in-app integration means that, whilst the Time Out team are working tirelessly to tell you about the best food, drink and fun to be had in London, in just a couple of taps, you can request an Uber to pick you up and take you there. Now there’s no excuse not to explore your city!
To celebrate the launch of our API, for a limited time, Time Out is offering new Uber users a free first ride, up to the value of £20.
As excited as we are about this launch, we’re truly just getting started. Our team will continue working to add functionality, provide support, address feedback and deliver more value to developers.
