Uber’s Big Week with NASDAQ, Pepsi, Bud Light & Xbox
In honor of Sunday’s Big Game, we teamed up with some exciting partners in New York City to kick off Super Bowl weekend in style.
Yesterday, Detroit Lions running back Joique Bell, Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle Eric Winston and Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel joined Uber and the NFL Players Association to ring NASDAQ’s Opening Bell to celebrate a program that provided professional football players with safe, convenient transportation during the 2013-14 NFL season.
Since Uber and NFLPA announced the partnership in September, thousands of rides have been taken by NFLPA members as part of the program; players have promoted driving responsibility to friends and family; and automobile-related incidents involving NFL players have decreased dramatically.
Uber Chief Business Officer Emil Michael and NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith rang NASDAQ’s bell flanked by Uber employees, partner drivers, and NFLPA staff. NASDAQ showed its support for the safe rides partnership by making a generous donation to the NFLPA’s Player Assistance Trust Fund.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Uber teamed up with Pepsi to bring the hype of halftime to the streets of Manhattan. Personalized on-demand halftime shows came complete with a marching band, cheerleaders, an emcee, and, of course, plenty of Pepsi. When all was cheered and done, over 50 halftime shows were delivered around the city, much to the delight of Uber users and onlookers.
Uber also joined forces with Bud Light to unveil the beverage company’s “Stay in the Game. Drink Responsibly” social responsibility campaign, which aims to make this weekend’s Big Game the safest yet. Throughout the week, Bud Light has been giving away $25 Uber gift cards to encourage football fans to get home safely. Additionally, we offered guests of the Bud Light Hotel (a brand-new cruise ship docked on the Hudson River) promo codes and branded Uber SUVs so that they too can celebrate responsibly.
To round out the week, we teamed up with Xbox to give away rides and awesome prizes. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 10 Xbox One-branded SUVs are providing free rides anywhere between 42nd Street and Houston. Those lucky enough to snag a free ride could win a pair of tickets to Sunday’s game, Xbox One consoles, and more.
Whether you’re a freshman or a senior headed back to campus this fall, one thing is certain—you’ll need to eat. And there is nothing worse than being limited to questionable cafeteria food or taking a chance on expired leftovers in the back of the fridge. The best news? UberEATS is expanding to 30+ major college campuses by the end of the year, from Penn State to LSU to Boise State. Since we want you to focus on what you love about college and not worry about your next meal, we’re predicting the 5 times you’ll need to order UberEATS this semester.
We are excited to surpass the 100th city mark by welcoming two Brazilian cities, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, to the UberEATS family. From Atlanta to Warsaw, people have truly embraced this easy and reliable way to discover the food they love at the push of a button. Whether that’s an Indian inspired samosa, a good old-fashioned American burger or Vietnamese pho, people in 27 countries are using UberEATS to get a taste of the world’s flavors at the push of a button.
We’re excited to expand the Uber for Business platform beyond business travel, to include a world-class customer transportation solution, Uber Central. With Uber Central, organizations of all shapes and sizes can now easily provide on-demand, door-to-door transportation for their customers, clients, and guests.
