UberEVENTS allows event organizers and party planners alike to purchase ride passes for guests, and only pay for what they use.

UberEVENTS is currently live in the United States, Canada, Brazil, United Kingdom, France, Singapore, Indonesia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Colombia, Russia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Philippines, Chile, Kenya, Costa Rica, and the Netherlands.

Edits to UberEVENTS Purchases

Canceling or changing event details after purchase

After creating your event ride passes, we’ll confirm your order with specific details. If your event details change after your order has been purchased, please reach out to your local city representative or visit help.uber.com under “Events and Inquiries” to request changes to your purchase.

Billing & Payments

Pre-authorization amount

For all transactions, we will pre-authorize the selected payment method for 25% of the full promotional value. This will not be charged to the actual card and will only show as a a voided charge at the time of purchase. Event creators will not be charged for usage on the ride passes until 3-4 days after the event end date.

Administrative Fees

There is a 2.5% administrative fee (on the full promotional value of ride passes) at the time of purchase, except for markets where the product is currently in beta (Brazil, New Zealand, Mexico).

Max exposure per user

Event organizers cannot have more than $15k (USD) in ride passes live at any given time. This includes all ride passes created, even if the event has not yet occurred.

Adding a payment method for ride passes

To add a new payment method to your account, head to riders.uber.com to update payment settings prior to purchase. You can also add a new payment method in the Uber app. Open the app, select the icon on the top left, and the “Payment” option. Once added, you can visit uber.com/events and use your new payment method to purchase ride passes. Note that if you remove the payment method used to to create an event, your guests will not be able to use your event codes. If you must change the payment method after the event is created, please visit help.uber.com under “Events and Inquiries” for customer service or re-create your event with the new payment method.

Can I book UberEVENTS purchases with my Uber for Business account?

You can use a corporate card to purchase UberEVENTS, however, you cannot make purchases directly through the Uber for Business platform. If you wish to use your corporate card, you can upload it to your rider account in app and revist uber.com/events to make your purchase.

Event Host Inquiries

Can I customize the code for my ride passes?

We will randomly generate a code and redemption link for all orders with <250 guests. If you're guest count is greater than 250, you will have the option to customize your code.

Define a drop off/pickup area

If you specify a location, guest rides will have to drop off or pick up within .25 miles of it to be covered by your ride passes. Event location restrictions are optional but can allow for more control in how your guests ride to/from the event.

Multiple addresses for event

You cannot set multiple addresses for an event with the current product. You can purchase separate orders per event address or not set restrictions on location if you want your guests to be able to travel freely within the country and under the date / time restrictions.

Can my guests be picked up or dropped off more than .25 miles from an event location.

Guests must be picked up or dropped off within .25 miles of your event location and currently we cannot expand past the .25 mile radius.

How to distribute guest passes

Event organizers will receive an email with their custom link and promo code to forward to guests. Guests can claim their ride pass in two ways; ‘Claim My Ride’ link or by entering the promo code in-app.

Guests will select ‘Claim My Ride’ and the event ride pass will be applied to their account
For the easiest distribution, we recommend sharing your custom link with guests

Issue promo codes to guests to apply in the ‘Promotions’ tab of their Uber app

Do ride passes apply outside of the country?

Trips must be taken in the country they were issued (e.g. promo codes purchase in the US will not be valid for trips taken in Brazil).

Ride passes with criteria not currently available

Ride passes can be valid up to 7 days, trips must be taken in the country where codes are purchased, and any purchase must have a value of less than $10,000 USD (limit in other currencies will vary). For events exceeding this max value and default 7 day time window, please contact business-support@uber.com.

Trips on ride passes that exceed the max amount per ride

If the total cost of a guest ride exceeds the value of the ride pass issued by the event organizer, guests will pay for any outstanding charges with their default payment option. Guests can update payment method before or during their request. As the event creator, you’ll never pay for anything in excess of what you’ve set as the max amount per ride.

Unused guest passes or rides that are less than the max amount per ride

Event organizers will be charged for only the amount that guests used. Any unused ride passes or any amount not used on a specific ride pass will not be charged.

When will I receive a confirmation email with guest passes

After completing your purchase, you’ll receive a confirmation email that contains all your ride passes. If you didn’t receive your confirmation email, please contact customer support via help.uber.com under “Events and Inquiries.”

When will I receive a receipt for my order

Event purchasers will receive an email summarizing usage on the passes about 3-4 days after the event end date. If you didn’t receive an email receipt, please contact customer support via help.uber.com under “Events and Inquiries”.

How do I estimate the cost of rides from my event venue location?

Fare estimates are available at uber.com/cities.

My guests are new to Uber

No problem! Share your ride pass link with guests where they will be able to create an Uber account and claim their rides.

Unauthorized usage of guest passes

Ride passes are used like cash for rides and you are responsible for all transactions associated with your ride passes, including unauthorized transactions. If you feel like your ride passes have been used fraudulently, please immediately contact customer support via help.uber.com under “Events and Inquiries”.

Event Guest Inquiries

Ride passes not applying

If you took a ride during the promotion period and the code didn’t apply, please reply to your trip receipt. Our support teams will take a look and help in whatever way possible.

Activating ride pass

Guests can redeem their ride pass by entering the promo code into the ‘Payments’ tab in app or through the custom invite link issued by the event organizer.

View active ride passes

Ride passes will be visible in the Payments tab in app during the time window specified by your Event Organizer. Once the event time window opens, passes will automatically apply to your next trip.

Administrative, Reporting, Invoice Requests

Will I incur VAT charges for UberEVENTS purchases?

Outside the US, we currently offer UberEVENTS as a consumer product only. The charge of an Administrative Fee therefore includes Dutch VAT at 21% if your event location is within the EU and 0% if your event location is outside of the EU. The 2.5% Administrative Fee is inclusive of Dutch VAT (if applicable). Uber is not liable for any local taxes or charges.

I need an invoice for the administration fee

Outside the US, UberEVENTS transactions are at this stage a consumer product and not designed for corporates. Under Dutch tax requirements a payment statement is sufficient and no invoice is required. (i.e. no invoice will be issued for the Administrative Fee).

I need an invoice for my guests’ events usage

Please note that with this product the trips are consumed/enjoyed by your guests and not by the event creator of Uber ride passes. Therefore if invoicing on behalf of the transportation provider is live in your region, an invoice is issued to the consumer of transportation services being the rider/guest.

Do guests receive invoices for transportation

Pending jurisdiction, Uber generates invoices on behalf of those driver partners that have uploaded the applicable tax information to their accounts and are VAT/GST/HST eligible. Your event guests can retrieve transportation invoices (where applicable) at riders.uber.com. In addition, the Uber system will only generate invoices in compliance with the law where the ride was taken. At this time, invoices are not available for all trips in all regions.

Can I see the user breakdown on ride passes?

Event creators will receive a summary on the usage of promo codes, however, we are unable to share detailed reports as this goes against the Terms & Conditions for UberEVENTS. If you’re interested in advanced reporting and ground transportation management tools, check out Uber for Business.
