Uber at the Conventions 2012!
Convention season is upon us, when the more politically-inclined among us gather to sip bourbon, debate policy, and pull together good ideas for improving America’s future. Whether you’re heading to Tampa or Charlotte (or both!), we don’t want you leaving home without a convenient, reliable ride when you need one. That’s where Uber comes in.
We’re thrilled to announce that Uber will be live and operational in both Tampa and Charlotte for this year’s Republican and Democratic National Conventions. Not only will we have the same luxurious rides that you’re used to, you can use the same Uber account and app you use in your home Uber city.
Here’s everything you need to know:
RNC in Tampa:
- Tampa City Page with fare and coverage map information
- @Uber_RNC2012 Twitter Account
- $50 is the minimum fare required by law in Tampa. We tried to get this reduced but Tampa regulators weren’t interested!
DNC in Charlotte:
What to Expect
For those excited to join Uber in the party, there are a couple of key things to keep in mind. At certain times of the week we may be overloaded with requests and not able to accommodate everyone at the same time. We’ll do our best to get cars on the road, but please bear with us and continue to request.
It’s also a good idea to be strategic with where you place your request. There’s no Uber chopper just yet, so unfortunately we can’t pickup in a stadium or within security zones. And while we did our best to get top secret security clearance, we don’t have quite the influence the secret service does! ;)
Note: Sadly, there will be NO Ubercades available in either Tampa or Charlotte.
