Choice is a beautiful thing. You’ve asked and we’ve listened and now all riders in Turkey are able to pay for their Uber rides using cash or credit card.

Although credit cards are common you’d be surprised to know that, in 2015, only 29% of people in Turkey have completed a transaction with their credit card in the past year.* Another study done by Turkey Statistical Institute shows that percentage of credit card holders, who are not willing to use their credit card for online transactions are above 44%.**

As Uber, we’re aiming to provide reliable transportation options for everyone, everywhere. Therefore, you now have the option to pay your uberXL and taxi rides with cash or credit card.

How to pay with cash for uberXL trips? 

  1. Open the Uber app and tap ‘set pickup location’ or tap on ‘Where to?’ and enter your destination address on the new Uber app
  2. Select your payment option as Credit Card or Cash
  3. Request your ride

How to pay with cash for taxi trips? 

  1. Open the Uber app and tap ‘set pickup location’ or tap on ‘Where to?’ and enter your destination address on the new Uber app
  2. Select your vehicle option as “Taxi – Cash”
  3. Request your ride

Important Details

  • Payment with credit card option will continue as is. You can choose to settle your fare in cash or credit card by selecting the payment option prior to your trip.
  • A valid Uber account is needed to be able to book a ride and pay in cash.
  • Cash option is available for both uberXL and taxi rides.
  • No credit card details are required when signing up for Uber and paying in cash for uberXL trips.
  • The same fare cannot be settled partially in cash and partially by credit card. It’s either or.
  • Similar to riders who pay with credit card, there are no additional charges to riders who pay with cash.
  • Promotions do not apply on cash trips made with taxi.
  • Fare adjustments are not possible for cash rides.
