Support the Athletes That Inspire Us

At Uber, we’re committed to fostering independence and connecting you to places and possibilities. We’ve partnered with Special Olympics Northern California and Southern California to support and celebrate the stories of the athletes who inspire us and help them continue to live independent lives.

Special Olympics athletes like Terence, a track and field gold medalist, embody the spirit of independence that we work to support every day.

“I’m independent. I like to go to practice by myself. I like to make new friends.”

– Terence Hong, Special Olympics Athlete

Starting July 20 to July 26 we’re giving riders the opportunity to show their support as well. You can make every trip an opportunity to support Special Olympics athletes who are reaching for their dreams.

Every time you ride INSPIRE, we’ll donate $1 to Special Olympics athletes.

  1. Request INSPIRE between July 20 and July 26 in Sacramento, the Bay Area, Los Angeles and San Diego
  2. Ride and you’ll be charged uberX rates
  3. We’ll make a $1 donation to our friends at Special Olympics Northern California and Southern California

The rides you take on INSPIRE will support Special Olympics Northern and Southern California in fostering independence, inclusion, and opportunity for athletes like Terence. If you’re inspired to go the extra mile, you can contribute directly to Special Olympics Northern California and Southern California.

The INSPIRE option follows the launch last week in Los Angeles and San Francisco of uberASSIST — a new option for riders who may want an extra hand and just one more way we’re working to make the Uber experiences as seamless as possible for our riders and driver-partners.

We’re all going somewhere and reaching for something. We’re proud to support the athletes of Special Olympics Northern California and Southern California who inspire us to do more and reach higher every day.

Uber will donate $1 for each ride completed using the “Inspire” vehicle option to Special Olympics Northern or Southern California up to a combined total of $50,000.
