LOOKING FOR A DRIVER?

The below button takes you to a list of drivers looking to drive on the Uber platform.

PLEASE NOTE: Drivers on the list has not been screened / Background Checked by Uber nor have they been trained. The responsibility is on the partner to have a thorough interview with the driver.

HOW TO ONBOARD A DRIVER ON A PROFILE

PLEASE NOTE: If it is a existing driver you want to add to your profile, please email us on partnerscapetown@uber.com to move him to your profile. Please also see the section below on “Moving Drivers”.

Step 1: Login to your Uber account and create a new driver profile. You can login to your account by clicking on the below button. Please ensure your driver uploads a valid South African drivers license with PrDP onto their profile.

Step 2: After linking the driver’s profile to your vehicle, the driver will receive a request to attend a Background Check at one of our agents (note: the cost of this test is R120 payable in Cash or ETF on the spot)

Step 3: Once we receive the results of the AFIS Background Check, your driver will be invited for a Uber training session.

MOVING DRIVERS AND DRIVER RELEASE FORMS

If you wish to transfer an existing Uber Driver to your profile, please email partnerscapetown@uber.com in order to process a driver transfer. If you wish to release a driver, see the following guidelines below:

1. We advice to discuss the matter in person.

The nature of running a business and employing or contracting a driver for a service should be handled professionally and in accordance with SA labour law.

2. Where employment matters are unable to be resolved, the following guidelines may apply:

Where possible, the driver must have a Driver Release Form signed by his current partner. This gives them permission to be removed from the profile immediately. You can download the release form below

Where the driver is unable to get this form signed, a driver can be transferred after 14 days of inactivity on a partner profile.

HOW TO APPLY FOR AN OPERATING LICENSE

If you don’t already have a operating permit,  you will need to apply for an operating permit for each vehicle you plan to use on the Uber system.

Application is done in two steps:

Step 1: Submit a business plan to the City of Cape Town ASAP (2nd floor, Civic Centre).

You can find the Business plan here:

You will receive a receipt which you need to load at partners.uber.com in the placeholder under the “documents tab”.

Step 2: Apply for the operating permit

After 7-14 days the city will provide you with a letter of support which you will take to the Department of Transport and hand in with your application for an operating permit [Form 1b]

Once you receive the letter of support for the business plan from the city, you will apply for a permit at the department of transport in Vanguard Drive.

Q) HOW MUCH CAN I EARN DRIVING ON THE UBER SYSTEM?

It depends entirely on how often you are on-duty. Even though we operate 24/7, as an Uber partner you are not required to work any specific amount of time, you can work whenever suits you.

Vehicles typically gross between R70 – R150 per hour depending on time, day and duration of operation. [e.g. A vehicle on for 100 hours in the week will gross between R7000 and R14 000]

Q) I DON’T HAVE MY VEHICLE YET, CAN I SIGN UP ON THE WAITING LIST?

Yes you are allowed to sign up on the waiting list without having a vehicle. We will notify you when your turn has come for on boarding, and you can load the vehicle documents then.

Q) I DON’T HAVE ALL MY VEHICLE DOCUMENTS YET, SHOULD I CONTINUE WITH THE PROCESS?

Yes, you can still get your profile set up and all your other documents loaded in the meantime.
