Winter UberBLACK Incentives through June

In celebration of Uber’s 5th Birthday and UberX’s one year anniversary in South Africa, we are excited to announce a massive UberX promotion for the Month of June!

This UberX winter pricing promotion has been designed to unlock new Riders, increase the number of trips Riders are taking on the UBER platform, and ultimately provide Riders with the opportunity to experiment with “Ditching their Keys”, parking their vehicles, in favour of using UBER.

The UberX Winter Price Promotion has three key parts:

1. Reducing UberX prices country-wide to drive demand
2. Huge marketing campaign to increase new user signups and increase usage from existing riders
3. Provide UberBLACK quality incentives over this period

This pricing promotion will come into effect on Thursday 4 June, at 6am.

NB:Uber will be providing quality trip incentives to limit the impact of the winter promotion!
More riders who use UberX, will translate to more uberBLACK riders over time.

quality incentives for June 2015

For the duration of the promotion (starting Thursday 4 June), a R7.50 per trip incentive will apply to all 5 star rated completed UberBlack trips!

Note: This quality incentive will come into effect on Thursday 4 June, at 6am, and trip incentives will be calculated from this time until Monday 4am.

Getting you more Business riders!

Recently we announced Uber for Business in South Africa, enabling the world’s businesses of all sizes to get to where they need to go via Uber.

Major companies all around the world have already signed up to pay for their employees’ rides on Uber.

In South Africa, we have had a number of successful conversations with corporates and have strong pipeline of opportunities that we are looking forward to announcing over the coming months.

An example is a partnership with a leading Retail and Business Bank which will promote Uber to hundreds of thousands of new Riders. This deal will be communicated early June and go live 1 July 2015.

Improving UberBlack Quality

The Uber team will be engaging with all UberBlack drivers in quality improvement sessions in order to drive UberBlack demand and grow your business!

Increasing service and quality is key on UberBlack and Uber will assist all partners in achieving this!

What does this mean for you?

This is a great opportunity for Uber partners as it will make demand more consistent throughout the week, giving you more flexibility to drive when and where you want.

Some details on price promotions from Uber Cities globally:

• Demand will increase, so partners will complete more trips and earn more per hour
• Busy times will be even busier – expect less waiting time between trips on Weekday Mornings, and Friday and Saturday nights
• Times that used to be quiet will be busier – expect weekdays to start looking more like weekends
• The UberX price change will make Uber accessible to more users, bringing more opportunities to earn and more flexibility for partners
• All over the world, pricing changes have been shown to increase partner earnings
