Regular passerbyers of Hong Kong Street would never know the cocktail paradise that sits behind the unmarked door of number 28. But venture inside and you’ll be lucky to taste cocktails made by award winning bartenders. The menu is very interesting, but our favorite thing to do is tell the bartender what you like and let them make a concoction for you. And don’t forget to taste the mac and cheese balls, they’re amazing!

Walking into the small shop front next to it’s sister restaurant the Study, you’re situated in a small room facing a crowded bookshelf. But whisper the “password” to the person sitting in the chair reading, and the bookshelf swings open to a dark and whimsical cocktail bar behind. Passwords are often posted on their facebook page, or you can always pop over to the Study and ask one of the waiters there. Our favorite aspect of their yummy cocktails are the elaborate garnishes and presentations.

Located in one of the busiest MRT walkways in Singapore, by day this bar is a Japanese salad joint called Shinkansen. But come 5pm, the location transforms to a small cocktail bar that prides itself on introducing booze that Singapore has never seen before. Armed with 48 new labels, the bartenders are ready to educate you on each one, from the unique flavor to the process of making it. We love checking out the unique offerings The Secret Mermaid has to offer.

Situated inside the location’s co-resident Manicurious, you’d never guess one of Singapore’s coolest speakeasies resides inside this nail salon. But walk past the rows of manicure stations, and you’ll find yourself in Jekyll & Hyde. They have an excellent selection of cocktails to choose from, but don’t miss ‘Potion49’ our favorite here. What’s even better? If you get there before 8pm, you can enjoy one of their fabulous cocktails while getting a mani or pedi.

Truly in line with a speakeasy, finding Operation Dagger for the first time is nearly impossible. You have to find the door marked with a symbol used in hobo code (an upside-down crown and a rectangle) and walk down some seemingly sketchy stairs; but once inside you will not be disappointed. Without a doubt, the most beautiful aspect of this bar is the 6,000-bulb light installation on the ceiling which sets the tone of an interesting night of great cocktails.
