Uber Guide to Formula One Weekend 2013
It’s all glitz and glam on the race and party circuits… but we all know it’s a little less fast and a lot more furious trying to get a ride over the F1 weekend. In anticipation, we’ve put together a few tips to make sure your weekend is a big hit.
MORE RIDES ON THE ROAD
As expected, demand for rides is going to be off the charts this weekend. We’ve definitely added a lot more cars to the system so if you can’t get a ride, try again in a few minutes, cars will be freeing up constantly.
As always, Uber strives to be a reliable ride, even during the madness of F1. Surge pricing will be in effect when demand begins to exceed supply. You’ll always be able to see and confirm current pricing in the app.
CALL YOUR DRIVER
If requesting for pick ups around the race circuit area, giving your driver a call to confirm your location is definitely advisable for a smooth pick-up despite the road closures and crowds.
CONFIRM IT’S YOUR UBER
Always confirm you’re getting into the right car. Double check your driver’s license plate number and have him confirm you’re the rider he’s waiting to pick up – it’s easy to get rides swapped in crowded places.
ENSURE PICK UP LOCATION IS ACCESSIBLE TO DRIVERS
Race circuit affected roads will be closed from Sept 18 to Sept 23. The below enclosed area (in red) indicates where drivers have no access to and thus where you should NOT request rides from. Walk outside of the race area before requesting your ride and make things even easier by setting your pickup location away from the masses and contacting your driver with a clear landmark
Done with the serious pointers, and onto more frivolous, fun things!
SHARE THE UBER LOVE
Friends need a swanky ride? Hook em up with promo code UBERPRIX for $40 off their first ride!
SPLIT THE FARE
Riding with your crew? Avoid all hassles with Uber’s Fare Split feature to share the ride fare. Remember, you can always request your driver to do multiple pick ups and drops offs during the same ride.
