Ensuring Uber Is the Most Reliable Choice

We’re committed to ensuring riders have a safe, reliable and hassle-free way to move around the city. While we strive for this level of service to happen around the clock, sometimes we see such high demand that the number of available cars gets tight. Think back to those times waiting on Burnside after a Timbers game or better yet, late at night when the bars just let out. To maintain reliability during these busy times, dynamic pricing will encourage more drivers to get out on the road when people need it most. When this happens, the price will go up until more drivers get back on the road and supply and demand stabilize.

HOW ARE USERS NOTIFIED ABOUT DYNAMIC PRICING?

We’ll always notify riders when dynamic pricing is in effect. At this point, a multi-step confirmation screen will appear and require the rider to type in the price multiple to accept the higher fare. Users can also estimate the fare before requesting a ride by simply entering pick up and drop off locations in the app. If dynamic pricing is in effect, the quoted fare will take the current rates into account.

TIPS FROM THE PROS

surge_drop_animation_nyc

  • When your schedule is flexible, you can hold out for a ride that’s as affordable as it is reliable. Just click ‘Notify me if surge ends’
  • To calculate your fare beforehand, you can always request a Fare Quote to estimate the cost of your trip in real-time.
  • When surge is in effect, you can consider a Fare Split with friends for an even cheaper ride.

We know the whole reason you use Uber is that you’ve got places to go and people to see. We’ll stay true to our pledge to connect you to a safe, reliable ride whenever you need one.
