New Year’s Eve Ride Guide

Uber New Year's Eve

Bubbly is flowing, fireworks are sparkling, and you’re celebrating the end of the year with your friends and family. Follow these tips and the only thing you’ll have to worry about is keeping your resolutions in 2016!

Check the price

Surge Pricing shouldn’t be a surprise. Let’s toast to you running a Fare Estimate in the app before you ride. To avoid the highest fares, head to the festivities early or catch a ride right after midnight.

Split your fare

Use fare split if you’re rolling with the whole party or take uberPOOL if it’s just you and one friend and it’s available in your city.

Confirm your driver

You wouldn’t want to walk into the wrong party, so make sure you don’t walk into the wrong car. Confirm your driver’s car model and license plate in the app before you hop in your ride. And if you’re still not sure, you can always text or call your driver.

Keep your number masked

If you can’t find your driver or want to share more pickup information, call or text through the app—your number will always stay anonymous.

Send your status

Let your friends count down to the moment you arrive. Send trip detailswhich includes your estimated time of arrival as well as your driver’s first name and vehicle information—to friends or family directly through the app.

Uber Resolutions

Resolve to be considerate to your driver and follow our Code of Conduct so that everyone can enjoy the spirit of the season and every ride meets our standards for respect and common courtesy.

Contact Support

If you drop the ball and leave one of your items in your ride, get in contact with your driver directly.

Host a better bash

Throwing the party? Tell your guests to leave the keys at home by purchasing Uber rides for them in advance. For every ride purchased through UberEVENTS + MADD, Uber will donate $10 to MADD to support their important work to end drunk driving and aid victims and survivors. You arrange how, when, and where your guests ride—so they can focus on having the best time. Available in the U.S. only.

Enjoy your night and see you next year!
