St. Paul Winter Carnival — Weekend 1 Kick-off!

Red Bull Crashed Ice

When it comes to below freezing temps in Minnesota, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em!

Today kicks off the 10 day celebration of cold weather, better known as Winter Carnival – that time of year Twin Citians hit the streets and prove that St. Paul isn’t just “another Siberia, unfit for human habitation in the winter”….yeaaaa 127 years later and we still haven’t forgotten!

Not sure how to get around St. Paul? Parking is limited, public transit is overly crowded, and unfortunately, our preferred method of dog sledding there may be on hiatus again this year — So, take the next coolest ride in town: Uber!

Use promo code SPWINTER13 for your first Uber ride to or from St. Paul for the Winter Carnival on us (new clients only, up to $25 off)! Click the code to sign up with the promo now or download the app to your mobile phone and add the code before you ride.

Here’s our #UberApproved list of must-hit events at the Carnival for Weekend 1. Be sure to share your top picks with us @Uber_MSP and we’ll add the best to the list!

Moon Glow Parade: Jan 24th at 5:30 pm, starts at St.Paul Chamber offices at 401 Robert St.

This is a parade for the pedestrians, and it is the kick-off event of the Winter Carnival! Uber over to the chamber and walk it out with the Vulcans and carnival vets, and start your festival week off on the right foot (get it, eh?!)

Royal Coronation: Jan 25th at 5:30pm, St. Paul River Centre at 175 W Kellogg Blvd.

All hail Boreas RexAurora, Queen of the Snows! If you planned to dine with royalty this Carnival, hopefully you already scooped up tix to the Royal Coronation Happy Hour (5:30pm)  and Royal Dinner (7pm) – at $85 a head, ticket sales ended January 21st. No? Don’t worry – all the action happens at 8pm with the Coronation of the Royal Family, followed by a Welcome Reception at 10pm. Public seating starts at 7:30pm!

Beer Dabbler: Jan 26th at 3:30pm, St. Paul Farmers Market at 290 5th St E.

For some of us, an all-outdoor fest requires the warmest of outwear – the Beer Blanket! Pack on a few extra warm layers after sampling more than 300 beers from over 100 breweries at this 4th Annual Beer Fest, all while jamming out to 6 live bands on two stages and grubbing on small bites from local food trucks. Tickets are sold out now (sorry if we got you all hyped up!), but head to nearby Mear’s Park to grab a drink in the area before Saturday night’s main event!

Red Bull Crashed Ice: Jan 26th at 6:30 pm, Cathedral of St. Paul at 239 Selby Ave.

Ok, so the Red Bull Crashed Ice events actually kick off on the 24th…but let’s be honest, we’re all really pumped for the finals on the 26th. This free event is the Ice Cross Downhill World Championship —  translation: get there early! Gates open at 5pm, so come warm and ready for a show. And if you’re not sure what you’re in for, check out this video now! Awesome, right?!

And the party doesn’t stop there – the official Red Bull after party continues 9pm-2am at Myth. Uber over to this Maplewood nightclub and GET LOW with live performance from Lil’ John!

Happy Winter Carnival 🙂
