UberUP: Growth is in Motion
In Uber’s first year in South Florida, over 15,000 driver-partners discovered economic opportunity partnering with Uber. Across South Florida, riders are using Uber’s technology to get around their community more efficiently and affordably than ever.
As we continue to expand our local footprint, a huge part of our commitment to South Florida is our mission to drive economic opportunity and development in underserved communities.
That’s why we’re so excited to announce the South Florida launch of UberUP, Uber’s Urban Partnership. This ambitious initiative will focus on recruiting 10,000 drivers-partners from urban communities in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach by the end of 2016.
Over the next year and a half, we are committed to partnering with 10,000 drivers from urban communities in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach.
In the past year, we have provided nearly half a million rides in areas traditionally underserved by existing transportation options, such as Miami Gardens, Hialeah, Liberty City, and South Dade. And as demand for safe rides continues to grow, who better to benefit from these economic opportunities than people who live in the neighborhoods where these rides are needed.
In July, we partnered with the Beacon Council, the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor of Miami Gardens, Bishop Victor T. Curry and AJ Francis – proud Miami Dolphins player and Uber driver-partner – to celebrate the launch of UberUP at the Betty T. Ferguson Center. Nearly 150 people attended to learn more about economic opportunity through the Uber platform. As Sheri Colas-Gervais, Vice President of Economic Development and Urban Initiatives for the Beacon Council, said: “Growth is in motion! Can you feel it?”
In coming months, we will partner with community leaders to host more driver info sessions and onboardings in Hialeah, Liberty City, Little Havana and other neighborhoods throughout Miami-Dade.

We’re excited to expand the Uber for Business platform beyond business travel, to include a world-class customer transportation solution, Uber Central. A little over a year ago, we set out to put a new spin on an old classic–make reliable food delivery available at the tap of a button. Back then, we started by offering food in the UberEATS app from 1,000 pioneering restaurant partners in four cities. And today, more than 40,000 restaurants globally–from poke shops to pasta spots–are sharing food with customers through UberEATS. With a growing restaurant community comes more choices and more complexity. So we’re cooking up features to continue to make UberEATS easy and reliable. Here is a taste–
