uberX Price Adjustment in Kuala Lumpur, Jan 2016

Lower Prices = Higher Earnings!

From midnight Monday, 18th January 2016, uberX prices in Kuala Lumpur will decrease as part of the first-ever, nationwide Malaysian campaign to expand our service to reach even more people in our community.

We know the Festive season is here, and part of why we’re doing this campaign is to ensure all our Partners – whether they drive part-time or full-time, make more money.

Our Commitment

We’ve learned over the years that we do best when we test new things. And because we believe that lower prices equal higher partner earnings in the long run – we’re willing to back it up and guarantee partner earnings across almost all hours of the week while we test. That’s why we’ve taken it on ourselves to extend hourly guarantees to cover more hours, and up to 9PM on the weekdays, to ensure Partner earnings remain similar, or higher.

Why We Made This Decision

At Uber, we never take price cuts lightly. We’ve seen numerous times, across hundreds of cities, that when we reduce prices – demand skyrockets, and partners end up making more per hour as they get more trips.

Of course, it may not always work as we had hoped, and there’s a chance we may be wrong this time. Our commitment to our Partners is that we always have your best interests at heart, and in several cities – including Seattle in the United States, we’ve ended up reversing the price cuts entirely when it became obvious that prices were already low enough.

During the price revision period, we want to encourage higher efficiencies as we know your time is valuable. To reduce time spent waiting for riders, we’d like to advise partners to start the trip 1 minute after arriving at the rider’s location. We’ll also communicate this out to riders in advance.
